We have previously written regarding the environmental issues relating to the oil extraction process and the resulting water related issues on the Oil Sands in Alberta, Canada. On March 30, 2010, Latitude CleanTech™ Group (“LCTG”) completed the second successful demonstration of our Integrated Water Solutions™ technologies with one of the major oil companies in Alberta. The results from the demonstration have been confirmed by independent laboratory analysis.
Water related environmental issues continue to bring pressure on the Alberta government and Alberta premier Ed Stelmach has said, “it intendeds to strongly enforce strict, new clean-up rules.”
Latitude CleanTech™ Group is nearing completion of its proprietary state of the art 100 gallons per minute (GPM) or 155,000 gallon per day facility. The facility is self-contained in a specially designed 40 foot mobile heated/air conditioned container. The plant is anticipated to be put into service within two months.
At issue are what the industry calls “mature fine tailings”, minute clay particles that can remain suspended in waste water for centuries if left untreated. During the demonstration, our technology has shown a 99.96% efficiency in dealing with these colloidal particles.
Latitude CleanTech™ Group expects to play a significant role in solving the Alberta Oil Sands major water related issues.
